marilou fonti, ba, MHC intern

Marilou Fonti is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern in her final year of her Master's Program at St. John's University.

Marilou earned a BA in Psychology from Barnard College. Her work as a volunteer at a women's shelter and as a Research Assistant in Cultural Psychology at Columbia University solidified her desire to serve women and provide them with culturally competent, trauma informed mental health care. She is grateful to have the privilege of holding space for her clients through their life's challenges, while helping them feel seen, heard, and supported. Marilou wants all of her clients to know that no matter how isolated their challenges may make them feel, they are not facing those challenges alone.

Underlying her approach is Marilou's fundamental belief that each and every person has the capacity to learn, grow, and heal. She is eager to use her empathy, kindness, sensitivity, and natural ability to connect with people to serve her clients and empower them to live fulfilling, authentic lives in alignment with their values. Marilou strongly believes in the relational healing that can take place through the therapeutic relationship and is eager to help each of her clients on their path to true healing.

Marilou is delighted to join the team at HHP and is supervised by Elyse Rubio, LCSW, PMH-C.

Marilou  will continue as an MHC intern at HHP as she  expands her counseling skills and knowledge until she graduates in December 2025.
