3) Supporting Clients AFTER Making a Report to CPS

Supporting practice with clients after making a report, and how to work with child protective services, especially in light of concerns for racial and social justice in the child welfare system.

This training will help you:

  • Apply a framework to guide the process of working with clients after making a report. 
  • Demonstrate skills at collaborating with child protective services for the benefit of clients. 
  • Demonstrate ways to advocate for improved child protective services systems.

Course Agenda:

1) Working with Clients: Practice Suggestions After a Report 

a. Confidentiality 

b. Self- determination 

c. Mitigating Risk 

2) Ethical Collaboration with Child Protective Services 

a. Protecting client confidences 

b. Advocating for client needs 

c. Providing resources through CPS 

d. Advocating for system improvements
