About the event
Many children and adolescents experience chronic pain, which impacts them across all settings in their lives. Chronic pain can adversely impact children and adolescents and pose challenges to them in their everyday lives. Children and adolescents experiencing chronic pain are also at risk for other comorbid, co-occurring conditions that may impact other facets of their health and mental health. It is important for social workers, health care providers, clinicians, and school professionals to be aware of chronic pain and strategies and interventions that can be used to support children and adolescents experiencing chronic pain.
Course Objectives:
1. Describe multiple understandings of pain and the derivation of pain.
2. Identify common conditions and their impact on children and adolescents who experience chronic pain.
3. Explain different interventions and strategies to support children and adolescents living with chronic pain.
