I am a NYS licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and received my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY Queens College. I have had the opportunity to work with clients in both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings- working both with the individual and also through therapeutic groups. I work with clients within a wide range of age groups presenting with various diagnoses’ and challenges including persistent mental illness’, trauma, life transitions, perinatal and parenting, mood and anxiety disorders, interpersonal conflicts as well as vocational and employment related concerns.
I have completed the intensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) training through Behavioral Tech LLC. I have completed Postpartum Support International certificate training as well as advanced trainings in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) by Postpartum Support International. I have also completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR).
In my work with clients I believe in treating the whole person by utilizing an integrative and client- centered approach. I find importance in utilizing evidenced based practices based upon the needs of the client. This may include cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitizåtion & Reprocessing (EMDR). These therapies can be helpful with learning and utilizing effective skills to better manage emotional distress and improve relationships and life stressors. I also teach practicing mindfulness in an effort to better engage fully in life.
I prioritize creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space for clients to obtain a better understanding of their challenges, explore emotions, gain insights, learn coping strategies, identify steps needed for change and to work collaboratively towards improving overall quality of life.
